Román Piña Chan
Román Piña Chan (Campeche, México, 1920 - Ciudad de México, México, 2001).
Licenciado en la Escuela Nacional de Antropología e Historia, fue profesor emérito del mismo instituto y participó en numerosas excavaciones arqueológicas, entre las que se pueden citar las de Uxmal y Kabah.
Fondo de Cultura Económica ha publicado Las culturas preclásicas de la cuenca de México (1955), Historia, arqueología y arte prehispánico (1972), Quetzalcóatl: serpiente emplumada (1977), Chichén Itzá. La ciudad de los brujos del agua (1980), El lenguaje de las piedras: glífica olmeca y zapoteca (1993), Cacaxtla: fuentes históricas y pinturas (1998) y, en coautoría con Patricia Castillo Peña, Tajín. La ciudad del dios Huracán (1990).
